In the year 2023, we were in search of a simple yet impactful Prospect and project management solution to use internally. We tried many apps but did not actually meet our needs. Finally we decided to build our own in Microsoft Power Platform.
Why Power Platform?
We started with few core modules like Prospect Management (to manage leads and the pipeline), Project Management (manage projects), Timesheet management (maintain the billability systematically in billable projects) and Invoice management. Eventually it was grown into a solution with below listed modules – Ideally all needed for managing a service based organization.

Document Management
Managing the documents related to the Clients, Projects etc have been a pain always. With this tool, when a project is created in the App, specific set of folders created automatically in SharePoint. Document folder is accessible directly from the Project record in the App. Application manages the document folder structure efficiently.
Also, users can view the files* in the browser itself by clicking on the file. No need to download locally unless needed.
Timesheet
Users would be able to create and submit time sheet entries from the app. Approval notification will be sent to the reporting manager via Email and Teams notification.
Timesheet entries can be easily linked to the invoices and there is option to generate the invoice lines based on the linked Timesheet Entries in Invoice.
Resource Management
Resource Management module provides the capability to manage the resources and skills. Allocate resources to projects based on the skillset. Identify the gap in skills in team etc.
Administration Module
System offers the flexibility of setting up various configurations and thus reduce the need of an IT support for BAU changes
